Licella congratulates Mura Technology on reaching critical milestone, as Mura's first commercial facility enters commissioning phase in the UK

Licella Holdings Limited (Licella) congratulates Mura Technology (Mura) on reaching a significant milestone on its path to global commercialization of its HydroPRSTM advanced plastic recycling process. Mura’s first 20,000 tonne HydroPRSTM commercial facility, located at Wilton in the northeast of England, builds upon 16 years of technology development by Licella into its Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor (Cat-HTR™) platform.

Mura’s UK facility has now entered its commissioning phase, with delivery of its first recycled hydrocarbon products to its offtake partners being targeted for early 2024.

Building upon 16 years of technology development

Licella’s pioneering Cat-HTR™ platform is an innovative form of advanced recycling called hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL), using supercritical water to unlock a continuous circular economy for plastic that would otherwise be burnt or buried. In this way, it complements existing mechanical recycling and helps reduce our reliance on virgin plastic produced from fossil fuels.

Licella is fast approaching an inflection point as it increasingly transitions from technology development to building out its own commercial facilities, including an Australian first facility under Advanced Recycling Victoria (ARV), and emerging opportunities for advanced biofuels across the globe.
